For over three decades, the Parent-Infant Center has provided high quality child care to the families who live and work in the diverse neighborhoods of West Philadelphia.

Christel Ürményházi

Lead Teacher

What motivates me is the hope that I am influencing the future.

PIC’s focus on developing strong relationships with children and families inspires Christel’s teaching practices. She is a past recipient of the Terri Lynne Lokoff National Child Care Award, which honors 50 early learning teachers annually for their commitment and dedication to the children they serve.

Christel is an avid lover of the outdoors and enjoys rowing with the Philadelphia Girls’ Rowing Club, bicycling with the Bicycle Club of Philadelphia, hiking and backpacking.

While PIC has grown too large to have center-wide overnight camping trips like in the 1980s and ‘90s, Christel enjoys organizing annual camping excursions and several hikes throughout the year for Roadrunner families and alumni.
