Amanda East

Lead Teacher and Program Specialist

I love going into different PIC classes. I learn new ways of doing things by obeserving other teachers. It has really helped me become a better teacher.

In addition to working as a Group Leader in our school-age programs, Amanda is also a Specialist in the Early Learning program. During the PIC school year, she spends her mornings working with the younger children, engaging them in movement, dance, and physical fitness activities. She finds that this aspect of her job enables her to see how other teachers manage their classrooms. She sees new ways of doing things and takes them back to her After School classroom, which has made a difference in her own teaching.

In the summer, Amada is a fulltime Group Leader and Camp Assistant for PIC's Summer Camp.

She enjoys working at PIC because of the curriculum's emphasis on learning through play. This approach to learning gives her the opportunity to provide children with a variety of different learning experiences.

When she is not working, she likes to spend her time outdoors. She loves the beach, going camping, and playing with her dogs. She also enjoys painting and being with family and friends.
