Sweet Dreams

In Fall 2007, PIC launched an ambitious fundraising campaign in memory of Marni Sweet, a visionary and dedicated child care professional who was executive director of PIC for 25 years.

PIC's Sweet Dreams Campaign was launched in 2007 in memory of Marni Sweet, a visionary and dedicated child care professional who was executive director of PIC for 25 years. Marni was lost to brain cancer just months after setting a strategic course for the center's expansion.

The successful $1 million Sweet Dreams Campaign enabled us to realize Marni's dream to expand the center, while also planning for PIC's future. Following the opening of the Sweet Building in April 2010, we have turned to a long-range strategy for making much-needed upgrades to our Spruce Building, PIC's longtime home, and our After School Center, so that all children can play and learn in up-to-date facilities. Confirming our commitment to play as an essential component of healthy child development, we have improved our infant playground and embarked on plans to renovate the main playground to accommodate 50 more children while actually reducing the impact on the green spaces around us.

PIC's expansion also created a dedicated space for a children's library, a parent resource center, and a large, well equipped teacher resource room.
