PIC Spring Plant Sale: Perennials  


Perennials are ornamental plants that live from one season to the next. For best results, learn how to care for your perennials -- they will reward you with color, foliage and form year after year. Our perennials are sold in 2-quart pots.

rfbvgfr   Achillea “Orange Queen” – Irresistible to butterflies. Excellent fresh cut flowers or dried. Tolerant of drought, wind and heat. Grows well in almost any soil type Spreads to fill in so give them room. 18-24"
  Ajuga “Purple Torch” – Evergreen groundcover (commonly called Bugleweed) has crisp, crinkled foliage that hugs the ground for a quick-spreading, evergreen carpet and early spring flowers. 2-8"
  Anemone “September Charm”– Poppy-like flowers are superb for cutting. Plants form a medium-tall mound of ferny green leaves, with blossoms in late summer and fall. Useful in the sunny border, or in part shade among Hostas and ferns. Good low-maintenance perennial. 30"
  Astilbe “Finale” – Late summer bloomer with pink, airy plumes. One of the easiest perennials to grow. Virtually pest free, they can light up the shade garden. Great long-lasting color for the shade border. Provides a nice textural contrast to Hostas. Also work well in containers. 18"
  Black-eyed Susan, subtomentosaUnfailing garden friend, this the most common of all American wildflowers thrives in most soils in full sun. A true sunshine worshiper that forgives neglect. June-August. 32"
  Caryopteris “Longwood Blue” – Butterflies love it!
Low arching habit and soft gray foliage are a perfect complement in the perennial border. Provides hard to find midsummer color. Prune hard in spring to encourage blooms. 36-60"
  Coreopsis “Nana” – Elfin gold, brilliant flower, compact form. This old fashioned perennial blooms for 6 weeks or more in early summer. Remove spent blooms to prolong blooming. Coreopsis takes heat and drought with minimal amounts of water. 6-12"'
  Daylily “Sammy Russell” – Blooms from midsummer to early autumn, red 2" flowers, vigorous. Fast-spreading plant that creates a dense groundcover. The bright flowers make an unusual burst of color in the late-season garden.20-22"
  Echinacea "Rose" – Native rosy-purple coneflower. This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds
Water regularly; do not overwater. Flowers are good for cutting. 30-32"
  Echinacea"Tiki Torch" – Large, dark orange spice-scented bloom. Echinacea, a North American genus in the Daisy family, appears in late June and keeps coming into September. Plants thrive in average soils or hot, dry conditions. 36"'
  Hay Scented Fern – Lacy bright green fronds. Easy to cultivate; rapidly spreads in light shade; fairly drought tolerant. Crushed fronds emit fragrance of fresh mowed hay. 18-20"
  Hemerocallis citrina A treat for those who work 9-5, as the soft yellow blooms open in early evening and last until noon the following day. Flowers are 3"; plants have foliage that is longer and narrower than typical Daylilies. June-July 36"
  Heuchera “Bronze Wave” – Lustrous, large, evergreen leaves of coppery purple that hold their color through the growing season. Late summer brings 3-foot-tall wands of tiny, bell-shaped, pinkish white blooms. 30"
  Hosta “June” – Chartreuse bright spot in shade. Pale lavender flowers bloom in mid-late summer on 20-inch spikes. This medium-sized plant is a standout in shade or woodland gardens. 12-18"
  Lavender “Dilly Dilly” – This English and French cross has an improved hardiness and fragrance. The plant itself forms a compact mound but its flower heads extend well above that, attracting passersby and butterflies. 12-14 "
  Maiden Pink “Zing Rose” – Profuse bright rose flower, spicy scent. Great border plant and attractive to bees, butterflies, birds. 6"
  Oriental Lily “Casa Blanca” – Tall, elegant, bright white with unmistakable perfume. Even non- gardeners get excited about these. Seasoned gardeners generally agree that Casa Blanca is the best white oriental lily ever developed. 46-54"
  Purple Muhly Grass – 'Pink hair' grass with dark green foilage. The fall is when Muhlenbergia capillaris puts on a real show with flowers that look like a purple cloud. This grass needs very little care, will grow in drought conditions as well as wet conditions. 24-36"
  Toad Lily "Variegata" – Pleasing vase-shaped clumps of upright stems lined with lustrous, clean-looking dark green foliage. One of the more heat and drought tolerant Toad lilies. Blooms from late summer to fall. 24-28"
  Verbascum "Southern Charm" – Easy, drought tolerant, deer proof, snail proof, goof proof! Ideal for bouquets. 24-30"
  Aster 'Raydon's Favorite' – Blue/purple. Long after most flowers are gone, these bright beauties glow in the garden. Pinch until 4th of July and not after. Pinching yields better branching and more flowers. 24-36"
  Yucca "Bright Edge" – Bold green foilage, creamy edge. Spiky, slow growing evergreen forming massive tufts of foliage. Edible flowers. Good rock garden plant. Excellent accent in containers. 30"
