PIC Spring Plant Sale: Herbs & Vegetables  


Spice up your cooking with fresh herbs and home-grown vegetables! You'll have best results in a sunny location. Herbs come in 3.5" pots; vegetables in 4" pots. Download an order form today!

  Basil, Genovese – the best variety for pesto! Pinch stems for bushier plants and to prevent flowering for best flavor.
  Chives – perennial, with pretty purple flowers in spring. Flowers are edible with oniony taste. Related to garlic, chives are a member of the Lily family
  Cilantro – great for Mexican dishes! Also known as coriander, this plant is related to parsley. Grown both for its seeds and leaves.
  Dill - from the carrot family, which includes anise, caraway, chervil and fennel. Great for potato salad!
  French Tarragon - A chef's best friend and a must for every garden. Has a spicy anise flavor and is a top choice for any hearty recipe.
  Lavender, "Goodwin Creek"– hybrid of French lavender that blooms throughout the summer. Also thrives indoors on a sunny window.
  Oregano, Greek – most flavorful of oreganos, also used medicinally.
  Parsley, Italian – more pungent, sweeter flavor than curly varieties. A biennial often grown as an annual
  Peppermint – plants grow to about 2 feet tall. They bloom from July through August, sprouting tiny purple flowers
  Rosemary "Arp" – perennial in sheltered location. Snip the ends, never take more than 20 percent of the plant
  Sage, tri-color– use in place of regular garden sage, but with colorful effects!
  Thyme, English – Goes with every food, sauce or side dish. A savory herb that packs a punch.
  Bell Pepper – a sweet variety used for salads, stuffing, soup, stews, relishes and pickling
  Hot Pepper "Jalapeno" – spicy ingredient in salsas and guacamole
  Cherry Tomato, "Sweet 100" – The classic cherry tomato! Very productive
  Plum Tomato, "Roma"– excellent fresh, for sauces or canning
