Smith Was a Smash!

Last Thursday, as the day of PIC's first center-wide picnic unfolded, we all kept a careful eye on the drizzly weather. But, by the time families began to gather at Smith Playground in Fairmount Park, the sun had come out to shine.

Upon arriving, families and staff (several with their own families in tow) were welcomed by PIC administrators who had hoagies and drinks set-up on the covered porch of the "playhouse." Families brought tons of side dishes and desserts, so there was plenty to eat!

That evening, nearly 200 of us had Smith Playground all to ourselves! The playground, which is the size of six football fields, has more than 50 pieces of play equipment for children of all ages. There was truly something for everyone. We also had access to three floors of indoor space, which is designed more for the 5 and under crowd.

Of course, the most popular activity was the Giant Wooden Slide that had children and grown-ups zooming down on potato sacks all evening long.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this year at our first annual (we hope to do it again next year!) All-PIC Potluck Picnic. It has been declared a smashing and sliding success!
