Meg Jones - Board Member

When Meg Jones moved to Philadelphia, she immediately set out to look for a NAEYC accredited child care center for her daughters. While taking a tour of the building she wasn’t sure if PIC was the place for her family until then-director Marni Sweet slipped a voter registration card into her handbag while she wasn’t looking.

That was when Meg realized PIC was strongly connected to the community, and involved its families in its advocacy for the importance of early learning.

Meg joined the board and was President in 2005-06. During her term she played a role in acquiring the Sweet building and was involved in the subsequent Sweet Campaign. Her daughter Nell is a sophomore at Duke now, where she volunteers with inner-city youth at the Durham Boys and Girls Club. Maddie is a senior at Harriton High and is chair of the Students’ Rights Committee.

Meg believes both her girls are engaged in advocacy because of the lessons they learned while they were Roadrunners and Bumblebees at PIC.
