When I first visited PIC, I was so impressed by how much learning was directed by the children who were highly engaged in what they were doing.

Marla Nesbitt-Laws has worked for the Public Health Management Corporation for the past 20 years. Currently, she provides mental health consulation to teachers who have concerns about the social/emotional development of a child. Marla specifically works with early learning programs participating in the Keystone STARS program, such as PIC.

Marla learned about PIC from a colleague. On her first visit to the center, she found so much positive energy and rich learning in the classrooms. Marla remembers, "I was so impressed by how much learning was directed by the children who were highly engaged that I could not help but want to be part of PIC."

Marla brings her knowledge of early childhood education, experience as a nursery school and elementary school teacher, and belief that young children must have access to high quality early learning.

A resident of Mt. Airy for nearly 30 years, Marla has one son who lives in the D.C. area with his fiancée.
