On Thursday, October 20, over 200 PIC families, alumni and friends celebrated creativity and community at PIC's 15th annual ArtStart.
This magical evening raised over $30,000 to benefit PIC's Scholarship Fund and help the Center remain a leading provider of high quality child care in Philadelphia.
Guests enjoyed delicious food and drink in St. Andrews Chapel (next to PIC), which was “magically” transformed into an art gallery showing finger painting, mixed-media collage, video installations, sculpture and much more.
Also on view were over 100 silent auction items, which included an autographed Jimmy Rollins baseball bat, a children's bicycle, a chance to sit in the studio during a live broadcast of WHYY's Fresh Air, great getaways, tickets to the best shows in town, and much more.
In addition to a wonderful array of appetizers, beer and wine, this year's event included a dinner buffet generously donated by PIC friend and owner of Beijing, Alex Yuen.

Special thanks to ArtStart Chair Karen Detlefsen for all her energy and enthusiasm, and the entire ArtStart Committee: Jeanette Bennett-Lee, Monica Calkins Wagner, Robert Chaney, Kristen Feemster, Jennifer Feldman, Marni Fogelson-Teel, Laura Line, Johanna Morales, Kendra Moton, Tiara Orange, Valeska Redon, and David Stotz.
We wish to thank all our families and staff for their support as our guests, volunteers, culinary contributors, item donors, advertisers, and raffle sellers. Thank you for helping us make such a magical evening! With your help, PIC is able to offer more financial assistance to those struggling with the cost of care.
PIC is also grateful for the wonderful community-wide support ArtStart receives through item donations, program book advertisements, and food and drink sponsors.
